ABOUT THE EDITORS: Susan DeMaggio

Susan DeMaggio is an experienced flow cytometer operator, having begun her flow career at the Los Angeles County/University of Southern California Medical Center in 1987, where she set up the Immunopathology Department flow cytometry facility. Ms. DeMaggio's position at LAC/USC Medical Center required her to establish panels, policy, and procedures for doing T & B cell panels for testing mostly immunodeficiency patients. She is a licensed Medical Technologist with 25 years experience, is an associate member of the American Society of Clinical Pathology and has earned a qualification in cytometry from ASCP in 1994. She has been a member of the International Society of Analytical Cytology since 1988.

She earned a Master of Science degree with an emphasis in Immunology from California State Polytechnic University in Pomona in 1990 with the development and characterization of monoclonal antibodies to a pre-B cell lymphoma line transformed by a murine leukemia virus.

Currently, Ms DeMaggio is President and CEO of FloCyte Associates, Inc., a training and recruitment agency, specializing in Flow Cytometry training. She has held successful training programs in BASIC flow Cytometry around the country, and a program of advanced topics as well. Her recruitment of flow operators has extended to Canada and Europe.

Ms. DeMaggio is the mother of three children, Elizabeth Evan, Laura and Mark DeMaggio, has 4 grandchildren, and resides in Irvine CA with her husband Emmett Lee.
